Job Summary

As a member of the production team, the Production and Shipping Technician is responsible to ensure sub-assemblies are manufactured according to specifications and on time for the production team to meet their deadlines and customer deliveries. This is an entry-level full-time, hourly position for $16-18/hour based out of our UV Pure office and manufacturing facility in Toronto, Ontario.

Job Responsibility

The Production and Shipping Technician will assist in the shipping, packing, and receiving; ensure orders are shipped on time; receive incoming orders following procedures; and ensure a clean, healthy, and safe work environment is maintained at all times. The Production and Shipping Technician will be responsible for assembly, shipping and receiving duties, among others:

Assembly
  • Performing assembly of products according to established specifications and instructions
  • Supporting the development of assembly procedures for the production of quality products
  • Performing final checks and adjustments for any defects to ensure high quality products
  • Performing repair, re-work, re-assembly of product as required
  • Interpreting and following work instructions, assembly procedures, and drawings
  • Collaborating with engineers on troubleshooting assembly and workmanship related issues
  • Preparing reports for non-conforming materials, assemblies, and systems
  • Collecting, documenting, and storing results during the assembly process
  • Working in a clean, healthy, and safe environment
  • Wearing personal protective equipment as necessary for the job
  • Maintaining health & safety regulations and ensuring all pathways are kept clear, and free from debris
Shipping & Receiving
  • Scanning all incoming shipments and transfers, maintaining shipping logs, and filing all paperwork according to requirements
  • Completing transfers and consolidations while maintaining inventory integrity and stockroom organization
  • Receiving and counting incoming parts, ensuring accuracy between the physical count and packing lists or purchase order quantities
  • Communicating and coordinating with appropriate staff for product return or repairs
  • Forwarding reconciled documentation to accounts payable
  • Recording received part information into computer based inventory management system
  • Labelling and shelving parts in correct warehouse location or designated area
  • Overseeing the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries
  • Ensuring that shipments contain proper documentation and if multiple items per shipment, ensuring item lists are complete
  • Maintaining organized work area according to policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Maintaining health & safety regulations and ensuring all pathways are kept clear, and free from debris

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or diploma in related field or equivalent work experience is considered an asset
  • 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using various mechanical hand tools
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Inventory related experience
  • Demonstrated ability in reading and understanding technical manuals and reports
  • Good communication skills in English, verbal and writing
  • Standing/walking, reaching above shoulder height, stooping/bending and crouching
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work with engineers and sales personnel
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite software
